Natural Alternatives to Commercial Hair Conditioners

As an alternative to the over the counter shampoos and conditioners, you should consider natural hair care. Commercial conditioners and shampoos often contain harmful chemicals, such as formaldehyde, which can cause headaches and joint pain or sodium laureth sulphate, which can cause liver or kidney damage.

Other ingredients can actually cause the conditioners to do the opposite of what they promise. For example, most of the shampoos and conditioners that guarantee dandruff-free hair contain alcohol, which dries out and softens the hair, but also dries out the scalp.
Check out these Natural Alternatives:

  • For those with dry hair and scalp, Organic Honey draws in moisture from humidity in the environment.
  • Coconut Cream or Oil is great in reducing breakage as it reinforces hair.
  • To prevent early hair loss, Rosemary Oil is the right ingredient in your conditioner.
  • In addition to dandruff control, Extra Virgin Olive Oil also fights hair loss.
You can create a variety of different conditioner recipes from these ingredients based on their hair care needs. If you are not enthusiastic about trying different recipes with organic ingredients, you can use easy to find, single ingredient conditioners:
  • Apple Cider Vinegar can be used for curly or frizzy hair to make it manageable.
  • Chamomile Tea helps alleviate dandruff.
  • Mashed Bananas, left on the hair for 20 minutes, are great for dull dry hair.
It may take some time experimenting with the organic options, but once you find what works for you, it's all uphill from there!
